A obra de Appiani foi listada na Wythe's Library (EUA) vindo da coleção de Thomas Jefferson Randolph que a recebeu como presente de seu avó, Thomas Jefferson, o terceiro presidente dos EU. A obra de Appiani em questão foi a de 1551 (mesmo ano de edição da obra deste lote). A Brown Bibliography afirma que a edição de Appiani de 1670 impressa em Amsterdã foi baseada no exemplar cedido pelo neto de Thomas Jefferson. Appian (c.AD 95c.AD 165) was a Greek historian from Alexandria. He became a Roman citizen and moved to Rome after the Jewish uprising in Alexandria of 116-117CE. After working as an advocate (somewhat like a modern-day attorney), Appians friendships and connections helped him work his way up to a procurator position under Emperor Antoninus Pius. This high-ranking position gave him the financial resources and freedom to work on his Roman History. Obra estimada, bem conservada relativamente à sua antiguidade (467 anos).
